Based on literature, Rhabdothamnopsis Hemsley is a genus endemic to China, with only one species of Rhabdothamnopsis sinensis Hemsley and one variety of R. sinensis var. ochroleuca W. W. Smith. R. sinensis is distributed in Yunnan, Sichuan, Guizhou and Chongqing in China. However, it is recently found in Changguan Town of Yongshun County of Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Hu’nan Province. This new distribution is not only the first record in Hu’nan Province and Wuling Mountain region but also the easternmost distribution reported of Rhabdothamnopsis Hemsley.
